Join us for the final Choral Evensong of the 2025β2026 program year at The Falls Church
π Sunday, May 3
β° 5:00 p.m.
π Contemporary Church
Evensong is a deeply prayerful and reflective service of evening worship, sung almost entirely by clergy and choir. Rooted in the Anglican tradition, it offers a peaceful way to mark the close of the day and to entrust ourselves to Godβs care: βthat we may have a peaceful night and a perfect end.β
This special service will feature our choir joined by the choir of St. Peterβs Episcopal Church, Arlington, under the direction of James Selway, with guest organist S. Yeri So (Westminster Presbyterian, Alexandria).
The music will include works by Parry, Stanford, and Ayleward, including I Was Glad and Stanfordβs Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C.
Whether you are a longtime lover of Evensong or experiencing it for the first time, you are warmly invited to come, listen, pray, and rest in the beauty of this sacred tradition.
The program includes:
Hymn in Procession 523 Glorious things of thee are spoken (Abbot's Leigh)
Preces and Responses: Richard Ayleward
Phos Hilaron, Hymn 35 Christ, mighty Savior (Mighty Savior)
Psalm 84 - Chant by Charles H. H. Parry
Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis: Evening Service in C Major, Charles Villiers Stanford
Anthem: I Was Glad - Charles H. H. Parry
Closing Hymn 24 The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended (St. Clement)
